We would rejoice to be of any further assistance to you. We believe this to be the sinner's greatest need your need if indeed you have not yet become God's child. To that end, we seek to teach men of their sin, of the consequences of sin, and to exhort, even plead, that they now step out in faith and accept God's provision. That God has done his part and he (the sinner) must now do his. 2:2), he is to grow and learn to observe the Lord's will (2 Pet. 5:17), and that as a new babe in Christ (1 Pet. 6:17-18), he is a new creature in Christ (2 Cor. That upon obedience from the heart (Rout. 10:10), and be baptized into Christ for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38 Gal. repent of his sins (Luke 13:3 Acts 2:38 17:30), confess his faith in Christ (Acts 8:37 Rom. Don't allow yourself to put off obedience to the gospel until you die outside of Christ! To so live before God that we can receive our eternal home with God is man's eternal purpose. If you miss heaven, you will have missed all that there is. Life is too short, eternity is too long and hell is too horrible for one to die in a lost condition. As a result of their having been baptized, the blood of Christ has washed away their sins and Jesus has added them to his church.Īre you a member of the body of Christ? If not, you are outside of Christ, in the kingdom of Satan, and lost. What this verse is teaching, therefore, is this: Under the teaching and direction of the Holy Spirit of God, men have been baptized into Jesus Christ. This is not because the church is the dispenser of salvation rather it is the recipient of salvation. Unless a person is a part of the church, he will not be eternally saved. These are the redeemed of all ages, those who are saved from their past sins. Rather, it is those people who have submitted to Lord Jesus, whose sins have been washed away in the blood of the Lamb. What is the church? The church is not a social club. The only way a person can become a member of the Lord's church is to be baptized into the one body. and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all" (Eph. Elsewhere he wrote, "And hath put all things under his feet. Paul also states that "by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body." The body of which he speaks is the church. Therefore, when Paul states that the Corinthians were baptized, he means that they were immersed in water. The modern practice of sprinkling or pouring a small amount of water on a person and calling that baptism" is not revealed in the word of God. The word ~baptize is a transliteration of the Greek word baprizo which is defined as to immerse, Baptism is an immersion in water. The guidance which he has given is found in the New Testament. Ue has not prepared one set of instructions for one group and another to others. The one Holy Spirit has given the same instructions to all men. God leads and guides us through the word of God, The psalmist wrote, Ȑ send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me" (Psa. This is what happened several years ago when over a thousand obeyed the voice ofJim Tones to commit murder and suicide. When men begin following their subjective feelings, rather than the word of God, we have incidenees such as the one which happened in Texas with David Koresh, when men starting following a self- proclaimed Christ to kill officers of the state. We read the truth into which lie guided them by reading what they wrote. He "guided" the apostles into all truth (John 14:26 16:13). The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit guides and directs us through the revealed word of God. The Holy Spirit directs men through the word of God, The modern concept of how the holy Spirit leads lien identifies any strong, subjective feeling with the direction of the Holy Spirit. Coiisequeiitly, when Paul mentions that "by the Spirit we are all baptized, he is using a phrase introduced several times before to speak of being directed by the Holy Spirit. The word of wisdom and word of knowledge (two of the nine spiritual gifts under discussion in this chapter) were given "by the Spirit" (12:8). The phrase "by one Spirit" is used in I Corinthians 12 to mean "by the influence or direction of the Spirit." The one who speaks "by the Spirit of God says "Jesus is the Lord" (12:3). A study of this verse is, therefore, help[ul to us in understanding both. There is much controversy surrounding both the work of the Holy Spirit and the subject of water baptism. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or tree and have been all made ft drink into one Spirit (1 Con 12:13).

Characters often quote the proverb " the enemy of my enemy is my friend", which is one of the story's recurring themes. Facing a common foe, the Iraqi and American characters must decide whether they should ignore their differences and become allies to survive the attacks. Players can choose to be courageous and ensure the creatures do not kill anybody, or to continue alone and be concerned with their own personal safety. A core element of the gameplay involves the management of relationships between the characters, and their allies and enemies. Bat-like monsters awaken to hunt the characters. Players take control of five protagonists who are enlisted in the armed forces of their respective countries the characters fall and become trapped in an underground Mesopotamian temple. House of Ashes is an interactive drama and survival horror game that is presented from a third-person perspective and is set during the Iraq War (2003-2011). Its sequel, The Devil in Me, serves as the final title in the series' first season. Technical problems with the gameplay and the visual design of the monsters, such as bugs and glitches with textures and animation, frequently drew criticism. The multiplayer modes, and choice-and-consequence system were praised and critics said the story and characters improved in quality compared to earlier games in the series. House of Ashes garnered mixed reviews from critics, being compared with Supermassive Games' previous work, including the 2015 video game Until Dawn, and was dubbed a "step in the right direction" for The Dark Pictures Anthology. House of Ashes was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on 22 October 2021. The developers looked at several works, including the book At the Mountains of Madness and the films Predator and The Descent, to draw inspiration for their story. With a soundtrack created by the series' composer and Supermassive Games's long-time collaborator Jason Graves, the game contains major influences from various media texts. The title introduces features, such as a more interactive camera system and three difficulty levels to manage QTEs. Many gameplay mechanics from the series' earlier games, such as quick time events (QTEs) and collectable "pictures" that allow players to see visions of possible future events, return in House of Ashes. The proverb " the enemy of my enemy is my friend" serves as the game's central theme. The protagonists must find a way out of the ancient structure and cooperate, together with their adversaries, to outmatch the vampiric entities that infest the area. Set during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the story focuses on five characters-four Americans working for the US Armed Forces and one Iraqi working for the Iraq Republican Guard-who fall into a subterranean Akkadian temple after the two parties clash during an ambush countering a US military raid. Due to these choices, any of the five protagonists can die permanently.Īshley Tisdale stars as the game's leading actress, portraying a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) field officer named Rachel King. The game's decision-making scenes, of which there are several, can significantly alter the trajectory of the plot and change the relationships between the main characters. Like earlier games in the series, House of Ashes features a cast of five playable protagonists and a multilinear narrative influenced by player choice. It is the third installment in The Dark Pictures Anthology, after Man of Medan (2019) and Little Hope (2020). The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is a 2021 interactive drama and survival horror video game with sci-fi and action horror elements developed by Supermassive Games and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. July’s Bandcamp Friday was quite the shindig, and it started unusually early. Get a taste by listening to their barn-burner of an opening number, “Sallisaw Blue.” Those vibrations are long gone, which is the way it has to be, but getting to hear a similar set (both with the multitalented John Calvin Abney accompanying) is a real treat. As a group, we were hypnotized as part of what seemed like a collective realization of how lucky we were. It was as packed in there as I’ve ever seen the Camel, and yet the crowd was absolutely silent as Moreland sang. I remember wanting to hold onto every moment. Moreland’s show in Richmond at the Camel was one of those rare moments when you know you’re in the middle of something you’ll never forget. I was so thrilled to see this pop up on Bandcamp. – John Moreland - Live at The Grey Eagle – Asheville, NC – 6/9/19 We can all do so much better, and I’m in awe of the way Dawid’s art has illustrated that. It’s not unlike how this summer helped many white folks find a clearer sense of accountability in connection to the many manifestations of systematic racism in America. Whether we’re talking over singers who are baring their souls, or failing to compensate those same artists by streaming their music instead of buying it at the merch table, listeners could stand to hold themselves accountable in ways we haven’t in the past. But what Dawid did in Germany feels vital for this moment, especially as we have some time and distance from live music to think about how concerts work. Think “You’ve Got a Friend” from Donny Hathaway’s similarly titled Live album - the crowd becomes a part of the song during the choruses, and there may not be a more beautiful recording of that well-traveled composition. The very best live albums find a way to break down that barrier. And not by stopping the show and having them removed or shunned by the rest of the crowd she brings that onlooker’s decision to withhold support into the song itself. We need you to affirm us.” In that moment, she shatters the whole set of power dynamics, especially the one about crowd participation being earned, en route to something both totally revolutionary and refreshingly simple: She holds someone in the audience accountable. You hear it in the opening moments of LIVE, when Dawid is scolded by a hotel employee for playing a lobby piano, and you hear it during the set, when Dawid entreats an audience member who didn’t join a call-and-response chant: “What’s wrong with me? You don’t love me. While that whole set of invisible exchanges - everything from the height of the stage and the price of admission to the convention of applause - often flies under the radar for attendees, imbalances are acutely perceptible when you’re the performer, and on this night in Germany, Angel Bat Dawid & Tha Brothahood turned a lack of balance (resulting from racism they experienced while on tour) into art. In the process, she lays bare the set of power dynamics that hangs in the balance at a concert. The word transcendent gets thrown around a lot, often as hyperbole in place of “really good.” But this live set from Angel Bat Dawid & Tha Brothahood breaks through the performer/audience barrier in spectacular fashion. – Angel Bat Dawid & Tha Brothahood - LIVE Here are a handful of 2020 live albums I loved, starting with one that immediately feels like an all-time great. And if Bandcamp Fridays have been any indication, artists have also been turning to the format - as a way to engage fans while we all wait for tours to resume. It’s so heartening that relief for those venues is on the way, as a result of recent Congressional action, but with live music’s return still a ways off, I’ve been turning to live albums as a way to fill that void. Of driving by them and wondering what it’s like inside. Either way, I wouldn’t have been able to imagine how this feels - the strange sensation of my favorite venues seeming so remote. If you’d told me on January 1st that concerts would register as a distant memory by year’s end, I’m not sure whether I would have either laughed or cried. Subway tiles are probably the most popular tiles you can have. Don’t forget to pick up the tile tools and accessories you’ll need for a do-it-yourself installation. We typically recommend a microfiber towel that’s been sprayed a few times with disinfectant to wipe down the keyboard. If you work on a shared keyboard, it’s best to wipe down the keyboard between each usage to keep from transmitting germs and other fun stuff. Ideally, you should be wiping down the surface of your keyboard with a disinfectant wipe quite often, we recommend once a week. Every 4-6 weeks: Clean keyboard more deeply by removing keycaps and cleaning between keys.Once a week: Wipe down keyboard keys with disinfectant.Plus, you don’t want to be the target of social ridicule by coworkers or family members just because your keyboard is a little bit dirty (flashbacks to my childhood). Nobody wants to spend time desoldering a switch, taking it apart, and attempting to clean out whatever gunk has built up on the inside.Īll-in-all, a clean keyboard is much better than a dirty one. You will have less crumbs that may enter the cracks of your keyboard or accumulate inside one of the switches. Let’s face it, nobody likes typing on a super dirty keyboard.Īnother added benefit is that a clean keyboard has a less chance of breaking. In addition, your keycaps won’t accumulate too much grease or stickiness which can help improve your typing experience. Cleaning your keyboard will clean off all of the germs that might accumulate and lower your chances of getting sick. There are a multitude of reasons to clean your keyboard and they are all common-sense, to be honest. Still, pretty interesting to see what other people are doing. Not the best results, but I’m not sure what we were expecting. I don’t even want to imagine what the results would be if we asked totally random people. For a lot of people their keyboards are basically their baby. Keep in mind, the people in our community are mechanical keyboard enthusiasts who spend way more on their keyboards than the normal person. Everybody else would rather clean their keyboard once a year or only if it’s really necessary. If you do the math, only about a third of the people we surveyed follow the ideal cleaning recommendations of a deep clean once a month. Around 31% of people almost never clean their keyboards, while an additional 8% would rather buy a whole new keyboard than clean their existing one. The results were a little shocking… and not in a good way.Īs you can see, the results aren’t that great, although quite entertaining. In order to get some more data (and make this topic a little more interesting), we asked our YouTube audience how often they clean their keyboards. How Often does the Average Person Clean their Keyboard? We’ll go over some interesting statistics on how often people clean their keyboards, and how many already do the recommended amount of cleaning. A deeper clean is recommended every 4-6 weeks to clean everything that falls between the keycaps. Once a week, wipe the keyboard down with a disinfectant wipe. So, how often should you clean your keyboard? Ideally, you want to clean the surface of your keyboard quite often. In order to keep my keyboard consistently clean, I did some research about the perfect cleaning schedule to figure out exactly how often a keyboard needs to be cleaned. From time to time I can let my keyboard get a little bit dirtier than it should be. If I look at the 10-year yield for the US, it’s not crazy high. On market pricesĬOWEN: If I look today, say, at equities prices, they seem fine. Those are the drivers, and they will remain the main drivers, and as they change, prices will continue to change. When you have the pandemic or the drought or that event that comes along once in 100 years or so, they have had big effects, too, so pandemic is a reminder of those. They are something that comes along irregularly. The one thing that was interesting to me when I studied the last 500 years of history is that acts of nature - and they could be climate-related droughts and floods and pandemics - had cost more lives and toppled more civilizations than anything else, including wars. That adaptability and change is affecting our lives in big ways, so you cannot ignore the technologically and inventiveness changes. We’re accelerating the rate at which they are occurring. The other two that have been reflected through history - and I didn’t have a full appreciation of until I studied the last 500 years of history - those two are technology and inventiveness changes. Those are the three big influences - to answer your questions - that are reflected, maybe not yet adequately, and we have to look ahead of what things will change. That is being reflected in market prices but will be reflected more as those circumstances change. The third big influence is the rise of a great power, China, to challenge the existing leading power and the existing world order. They’re reflected in market prices and will change as those circumstances change. The second is the very large internal conflicts that we’re having that are due to wealth gaps, political gaps, and so on, that influence the left and the right and the dynamic between them, that affects tax policies, that affects capital flows and the like. In other words, when you get close to a zero interest rate, and you spend a lot more money than you earn, then the government does that, that means that a lot of money is printed, and it moves its way through the system in a way that is reflected in market prices. Those three big ones are, first, that which is happening with money and credit. They are reflected in market prices and the dynamics behind them, and their change will be reflected in changes in market prices. There are three - sometimes, maybe we could stretch that to five - big things that are happening. Thank you for having me.ĬOWEN: The very first sentence of the introduction in your book is this: “The times ahead will be radically different from those we’ve experienced in our lifetimes, though similar to many times in history.” Do we see this today in current market prices?
